ADAPTING

READ: Psalm 137

How shall we sing the LORD’S song in a strange land?

Psalm 137:4

The children of Israel hung their harps upon the willows when they encountered their new circumstances. They packed up their instruments of praise because they had been carried away as captives.

Christians who find it difficult to adapt to their new circumstances often backslide in their walk with God. They cannot adapt themselves to their new roles as wives, husbands, mothers, fathers and so on. They are simply unable to adapt themselves to their new jobs, new husbands, new wives, new babies and so on.

Sometimes when a Christian relocates to another city, he changes from being a strong and vibrant Christian to being cold and indifferent. He cannot adapt to his new environment.

Why should you turn your back on God because of your new circumstances? Rise up in the name of Jesus! You wanted so much to have a wife, a husband and a job. Now you have it, so adapt quickly to your new circumstances, and do not backslide.

“The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation” (Psalm 118:14). Notice the relation between “my strength”, “my song” and “my salvation”. You cannot separate your song from your strength. Neither can you separate your strength from your salvation. They go together. You need to sing the Lord’s song in whatever you do and wherever you find yourself. Dear friend, even if you are married to an unbeliever, don’t give up your walk with the Lord.

Smile more than you cry, give more than you take and love more than you hate.

When things aren’t working out as you wish, be patient. Stop trying to move ahead of God. His timing is perfect.

MEEKNESS

Dag Heward-Mills

READ: Proverbs 7

..Even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

1 Peter 3:4

Outward beauty depends on the inward beauty of a person. If you are beautiful inside it shows on the outside. There are times when I see people, that I can tell they are not doing well spiritually.

I saw two pictures of a lady who had converted from witchcraft to Christ. One photograph showed her when she was practising witchcraft, and the other when she had accepted Christ. They were two different people.

When you are doing well spiritually, it reflects in your outward beauty. Proverbs 7 describes a strange woman who is physically very attractive, but very stubborn and loud. Such a person is beautiful outwardly but ugly in character and emotions. Young men, look for the inner beauty. The Bible calls it “a meek and quiet spirit.”

A beautiful wife once threatened to slap her husband in public. She was definitely a beauty on the outside but a tigress on the inside. Look at what is inside in addition to the outward appearance, because it is the two things together that make a person truly beautiful. Young men, do not be impressed by what you see on the outside. Look out for the inner beauty.

In spite of the fact that my wife is physically beautiful to me, I saw something inside her that attracted me-the inner beauty.

When a person has a good spirit, and a good heart, it adds to the person’s beauty.

Every couple fights, it’s very natural and normal and shouldn’t be considered negative. Father Lord I pray you touch the heart of the person reading this to get me a personal laptop to work better in the kingdom. Limitations can’t stop me from serving the Lord. Amen.
