SEASONS

Dag Heward-Mills

READ: Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

To every thing there is a season, and A TIME to every purpose under the heaven:

Ecclesiastes 3:1

Once, when it was time for kings to go out to war, King David sent his army but he remained in Jerusalem (2 Samuel 11:1). Perhaps King David knew it was time to fight, but he chose to rest at home. Instead of experiencing another victory on the battlefield, he experienced a major family crisis.

Many of us are in crisis today because we are using the time given for one thing to do another.

One day, my children were playing on their play station and I passed by. There was this creature that was making its way through a jungle with all sorts of amazing traps and ambushes. As I watched, a huge animal that came from nowhere, suddenly destroyed my son’s player, and I said, “Oh, sorry, that is the end of the game.”He answered “Oh don’t worry, I have five more lives. The game is not over at all.”

The computer games of our world have deceived us into thinking that we have multiple lives. We have nothing but one life and one death. The clock is ticking and the opportunity is passing by. In John 4:35, Jesus said we must not say that there are yet four months.

In other words do not give yourself more time at all. This is the time of the harvest. It is time to respond now! “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest” (John 4:35).
